He specialises in divorce, financial, children and cohabitation disputes. He also advises on civil litigation and motoring offences. Michael is a Deputy District Judge on the Midland Court Circuit.

He specialises in divorce and dissolution matters, and resolving financial and children disputes and cohabitation agreements and disputes. He is often called upon to advise clients on pre- and post-marital agreements. Other specialisms include: handling claims for the benefit of children (usually on behalf of unmarried parents) under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989; and advising and conducting litigation on behalf of disappointed beneficiaries seeking reasonable financial provision from a deceased’s estate (under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975).

He is also entirely conversant with the law and procedure as it applies to the ownership of property, and the establishment and quantification of beneficial interests on relationship breakdown.

Michael has Higher Rights of Audience, which entitles him to act as Solicitor Advocate and to represent his clients before courts up to and including the Supreme Court.

His expertise as a family lawyer is well-recognised by peers and by our regulator: Michael is an accredited member of the Law Society Family Law Panel. He has been sitting as a Deputy District Judge on the Midland Court Circuit since 1992.

Michael is a trained Mediator and practising Collaborative Lawyer trained by Resolution, and can apply either skill set to help manage and resolve disputes in a family context.

He also has a wealth of experience enabling him to advise on general civil litigation and motoring offences.
