"International Criminal Law in Chile" Book Presentation

On Thursday, June 23, the senior associate of the judicial area of our firm, Felipe González Ampuero, attended the launch of the book "International Criminal Law in Chile and before the International Criminal Court" (editorial Ius Civile), held in the classroom magna of the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile.

The aforementioned collective work contains an article written by Felipe, entitled "Public and direct incitement to commit genocide in Law No. 20,357, crime or form of participation?". According to its title, the article addresses the problems posed by the rule that enshrines public and direct incitement to commit genocide, and which is part of Law No. 20,357, which aimed to adapt the Chilean legal system to the Statute of Rome. The author concludes that contrary to what the literal tenor of article 13 of Law No. 20,357 suggests, public and direct incitement to commit genocide is not enshrined as a form of participation in said crime, but rather as an autonomous crime.
