The Retail Trade industry group comprises establishments engaged in retailing merchandise, generally without transformation, and rendering services incidental to the sale of merchandise. The retailing process is the final step in the distribution of merchandise; retailers are, therefore, organized to sell merchandise in small quantities to the general public. This sector comprises two main types of retailers: store and nonstore retailers.

2019 ICSC Law Conference Recap

Last week, over 1,500 members of the retail law industry came together at this year’s 49th International Council of Shopping Center (ICSC) U.S. Law Conference. Those in attendance ranged from counsel from outside law firms, in-house counsel, paralegals and many others involved in the retail industry, including several first-time attendees. 

Go Mega-Mall or Go Home?

While increased occurrences of retail store closures and predictions about the death of the shopping mall are causing mall owners to consider downsizing or repurposing their space, the developers behind American Dream Mall, are doubling down on their use of entertainment space to attract customers.
