According to Henley Passport Index, the Portuguese passport is the fifth most valuable in the world, in a list with 199 countries, along with passports from United States of America, United Kingdom, Norway, Austria, Luxembourg and Netherlands.

Japanese passport is the most valuable one, allowing the Japanese citizens to enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 190 destinations around the world. Singapore, with 189 destinations, is in second place. Germany lost the first place and currently holds the last place on the podium along with France and South Korea (188 destinations).

Denmark, Finland, Italy, Sweden, Spain, with 187 destinations, are in fourth place.

In the last places are Iraq and Afghanistan, with only 30 destinations where the citizens will receive visas.

Since 2006 that Portugal has always been among the top 10.

It is also interesting to note the evolution of some countries, like United Arab Emirates, that is the most successful case of the decade, with regard to the freedom to travel - 62nd place in 2006 and 21st place today.
