Cuevas Abogados' Anna Tarasevich Atends the 11th Pilip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition
In January 2017, the Chilean-American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Chile) organized the eleventh version of the renowned Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
Jessup is the world´s largest moot court competition, with participants from over 550 law schools in more than 87 countries. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the international Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations.
The event is organized by the International Law Students Association in the United States, and seeks to be an instance not only to support and strengthen the practice of the English language between students but also an opportunity for the students to learn to litigate before a Court, that although fictitious, adopts the same procedures as if it were real. The team that wins the national rounds will then go on to represent Chile in the international rounds of the competition in the city of Washington D.C.
The lawyer of Cuevas Abogados, Mrs. Anna Tarasevich was invited for the second consecutive year to serve as member of the oral round judging panel, together with two fellow judges in the national rounds of the competition. Her main role was to evaluate both the performance and preparation of the participating teams. The final results and the winning Chilean team will be known at the end of January 2017.
We are grateful to be the part of this so renowned competition and would like to continue to support such initiatives since it seeks to develop better professionals, promote the learning of English language and allow Universities to have a common space in which their students can demonstrate their skills in an environment that is competitive and professionally demanding, but at the same time, friendly.
We wish the best of luck to all participants and would like to express our warmest thanks to the organizers for their initiative in such unforgettable experience.
We look forward to participating again next year!
