On March 29, 2018, in the premises of the Chamber of Commerce of Banja Luka, in cooperation with the Law Firm “SAJIC” o.d. Banja Luka, a seminar entitled “Food Law – Challenges and Concerns in the Practical Application of Regulations” was held. The seminar attracted a lot of attention and interest by economic entities dealing with food, as well as other people who are in some way related to the subject of food production. The seminar consisted of three presentations, and the lecturers from the Law Firm SAJIC were the lawyer Natasa Krejic and the junior associate Ognjen Bogdanic, while the senior associate Bozana Vranjes was a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska.

“The seminar was a great opportunity for all entities dealing with food to get to know the basic concepts of food law, responsibilities, rights and obligations, key authorities in the food chain industry, as well as food labelling and declaration issues. Additionally, a particular emphasis has been placed on a significant, and recently, very crucial issue, namely the protection of intellectual property, and in the context of the food law and the theme of today’s seminar, it was important to draw attention at the protection of trademarks and the protection of geographical indication. I would also like to point out that we are particularly pleased with the great response and attendance at today’s seminar, as there were more than 60 participants,”said Ognjen Bogdanic, one of the lecturers from the Law Firm SAJIC.”

Finally, the participants as well as with the lecturers themselves, exchanged attitudes and opinions on the various issues in this area, then concluded that it was a very complex and wide area, and that there is particular interest and the need to organize these kind of seminars in the coming period in order to address certain issues in a more detailed way.
