Goulston & Storrs Attorney David Abromowitz Elevated to Chairman of National Housing & Rehabilitation Association
Goulston & Storrs congratulates David Abromowitz on being elevated to Chair of the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA). David was elected to the post of Chairman at the NH&RA’s 2018 Annual Meeting in Palm Beach, Florida. A Board member of NH&RA since 1997, David most recently served as Vice-Chair from 2013 to present and as Secretary of the organization from 2011-2013.
David is a former Co-Chair of the Real Estate group with Goulston & Storrs, which comprises more than 100 attorneys across the firm’s Boston, New York and Washington, D.C. offices. His practice focuses on leading complex development and financing transactions. David is nationally recognized as a leader in many areas of affordable housing and economic development. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Law Journal in 2017, the Affordable Housing Vision Award by the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association in 2014, and the Distinguished Achievement Award of B’Nai B’rith Housing New England in 2013.
“For over two decades, NH&RA has been much more than just a professional organization to me,” David said. “It is a place where I can join in with industry leaders at a time when we need long term vision to address the housing needs of millions who are working hard but still struggling to pay rent.”
The National Housing & Rehabilitation Association is a professional association of companies and individuals who are involved in affordable housing, historic rehabilitation and New Markets Tax Credit development. Members meet quarterly for serious discussions of significant issues affecting the tax credit and affordable housing industry. Founded in 1971, NH&RA is one of the premier associations of affordable housing and multifamily owners, developers, attorneys, investors, lenders and other professionals in the country.
“The affordable housing industry faces many new challenges as we navigate changing capital markets and an evolving policy environment. NH&RA welcomes David’s experience and leadership at this critical juncture for the affordable housing industry,“ said Thom Andur, Executive Director of NH&RA. “David’s deep technical knowledge in affordable housing finance and policy and his personal dedication to mission-driven housing and workforce development makes him an excellent steward for our association in the year to come.”
