Working Holiday Agreement With Iceland
Legal Area: Labor and Employment Law
On June 24, the Chilean Foreign Minister, Alberto van Klaveren, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, Thórdis Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir, signed a Working Holiday Memorandum of Understanding. Once the States notify each other that the internal requirements for its implementation have been met, the agreement can enter into force.
The importance of this type of agreement is that it allows the strengthening of existing bilateral relations between the countries and, for nationals between 18 and 30 years of age, to have a closer relationship with the culture, society and language of each country.
Currently, Chile has 17 Working Holiday agreements in force and one Intern Exchange Agreement (Switzerland).
